This Privacy Policy explains how Life Event App ("Life Event", "we", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, mobile apps, and related services (the "Service"). Life Event is operated by Techno Optics / Abel Ark.

We aim to be plain about what we do. If anything is unclear, email contact@lifeeventapp.com.

1. What we collect

You give us

Account info: email, name, profile photo, language & timezone preferences.
Event content: titles, descriptions, dates, locations, host messages, theme choices, schedule items, registry items, donation amounts, tribute messages, photos, and chat messages you post.
Guest list data: names, emails, phone numbers, dietary restrictions, accessibility needs, and any custom fields you choose to collect from guests.
Payment info: handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. We retain receipts and metadata.

We collect automatically

Usage: device type, browser, IP address, pages visited, errors encountered.

2. Why we use it

Provide the Service and your event pages.
Send transactional email (RSVP confirmations, invitations, donation receipts).
Process payments and donations via Stripe.
Improve the Service and prevent abuse.
Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads. We do not train AI models on your event data.

3. AI features

When you use AI features (invitation copy, host messages, tribute prompts, thank-you notes, seating suggestions, photo highlights, translation, accessibility audit, budget planner), the relevant event metadata (and, for vision tools, photo URLs) is sent to Anthropic for inference. We do not train on your data, and Anthropic does not train on it under our contract. AI output is generated on-demand and stored alongside the event record where applicable.

4. Photos & face detection

Photos uploaded to a gallery are stored in Supabase Storage and shown only on the event they were uploaded to. Face detection and blur (face-api.js) run entirely in your browser; image data does not leave the browser for face detection. Anyone appearing in a photo can request removal via the gallery, we honor those requests within 7 days.

5. Sharing

We share information only with:

Hosts: when you RSVP, donate, upload, or post, the event's host(s) see your submission.
Service providers: Supabase (database, storage, auth), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Anthropic (AI), Mux (live video), Sentry (error tracking).
Legal: when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.

6. Storage & security

Data is stored in PostgreSQL with row-level security policies enforced per table. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Backups are retained for 30 days. We restrict access to production data to a small set of authorized engineers.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access: request a copy of your data via Settings → Export my data.
Delete: permanently remove your account and event data via Settings → Delete my account.
Correct: update your profile fields any time.
Object: opt out of marketing communications via Settings → Notifications.
Portability: your data export is machine-readable JSON.
Lodge a complaint: with your local data protection authority.

8. Retention

We retain account and event data for as long as your account is active. After deletion, data is removed within 30 days (some operational logs retained up to 90 days for fraud prevention). Donation receipts are retained for 7 years for tax compliance.

9. Children

Life Event is not directed at children under 13. If we discover a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it.

10. International transfers

Our infrastructure runs in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to your information being processed in the United States.

11. Changes

We'll post material changes to this policy at this URL. If changes meaningfully affect you, we'll email you.
