Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Life Event App ("Life Event", "we", "us"), operated by Techno Optics / Abel Ark. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you're creating an event for an organization, you affirm you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at contact@lifeeventapp.com of any unauthorized use.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you upload, event details, photos, tribute messages, copy, and so on. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and process that content as needed to operate the Service. You can revoke this license by deleting your content or account.

You are responsible for the legality of content you upload. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to share, and don't upload material that is illegal, harassing, hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful purposes.
• Send spam, phishing, or unsolicited bulk communications.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to bypass technical safeguards.
• Impersonate another person or entity.
• Upload malware or interfere with the Service's operation.
• Resell or sublicense the Service.

5. Plans, payments, and refunds

Free plans are free. Paid plans (Premium, Pro Host) bill monthly or annually via Stripe. You can cancel any time from your billing portal; cancellation stops the next renewal but doesn't refund the current period.

5.1 Refund policy

We want you to love hosting on Life Event App. Our refund commitments:

• Premium and Pro Host subscriptions: we offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on new subscriptions. Email contact@lifeeventapp.com within 7 days of your first charge and we'll process a full refund.
• Annual plans: beyond the 7-day window we offer a pro-rated refund of the unused months if you cancel mid-cycle.
• Single Event ($24): refundable in full within 48 hours of purchase, provided the event hasn't yet received any guest RSVPs.
• Renewals: we do not refund monthly subscription renewals after the period has begun. Cancel before your next renewal date to avoid the charge.
• Disputed charges: please email us first, most issues are resolved within one business day.

Donations made by guests through your event are subject to Stripe's payment terms. Hosts can refund completed donations from the dashboard. Stripe processing fees on refunded donations are not returned. Recurring donations can be canceled by the donor at any time via their Stripe billing portal. The 3% platform fee on Pro Host fundraising is refunded proportionally when a donation is refunded.

Stripe's standard processing fees apply to donations and gift registry payments.

6. Tax-deductible donations

Tax-deductible receipt language only appears when an organization profile includes a verified tax ID. Verifying your charity's status is your responsibility.

7. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, branding, and templates, is owned by Techno Optics / Abel Ark and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy or reuse them outside the Service.

9. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that present a risk to the Service or other users. You may close your account at any time via Settings.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is". We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly compatible with every device. Don't rely on Life Event for life-critical communications.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

12. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, U.S.A., without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the federal or state courts located in California, except where applicable consumer-protection laws give you the right to use your local courts.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes are emailed to you at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
